"Mass Customized Learning (MCL) is a new and exciting vision for education that uses today’s powerful mass customizing technology to meet the personal learning needs of every learner every hour of every day" (Mass Customized Learning Website,2016). Below are some videos on possibilities for technology integration into the classroom where the teacher becomes the facilitator of learning rather than just the presenter of information. The teacher will never be replaced by technology; rather, technology is a tool to support learning while meeting all students' needs. Edgemont's classrooms work in this way: technology is used to support a student's individual needs with additional learning material can be provided in order to reach a learner until they have fully grasped a concept. The videos below are themed around "Flipped Classrooms" and "Blended Learning" which are a part of " Mass Customized Learning" (MCL) . Educause ( educause.edu/eli) states, "There is no single model for the flipped classroom-the term is widely used to describe almost any class structure that provides pre recorded lectures followed by in-class exercises" (2012, p.1). Caitlin R Tucker explains on ascd.org that blended learning in classrooms as, " Blended learning combines classroom learning with online learning, in which students can, in part, control the time, pace, and place of their learning" (2013, March, pg 57-60 ). It is important to note that MCL is unique to each school district and the district's needs. We currently use the learning management system, Canvas, in order to provide these opportunities. I have provided the videos below in order to give some insight into our classrooms. *** It is important to note that Edgemont School District provides all learners with specialized instruction meeting each individual at their specific pace of learning. Learners are no longer categorized and learn within a fully-inclusive environment with specialized instruction for each learner.
